How to Get to Bintan from Singapore

Getting to Bintan is refreshingly simple, no flights, no long layovers, just a ferry ride across the strait.

Ferries depart from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in Singapore and arrive at Bandar Bentan Telani (BBT) Ferry Terminal, the dedicated gateway for the Bintan Resorts area in Lagoi. The crossing takes roughly 60 minutes, and Bintan Resort Ferries (BRF) is the main operator most travellers use, with several sailings a day,  typically starting around 8am and running until early evening, with extra trips added on weekends and school holidays.

A few practical notes before you book:

• Arrive at Tanah Merah at least 60 minutes early you'll need to collect a physical boarding pass at the counter even if you've booked online.

• Fares generally range between S$55 one-way, depending on class and season, with peak surcharges around major holidays.

• If your resort is in Lagoi (think Banyan Tree, Nirwana, Club Med, The Sanchaya), you'll almost always depart from Tanah Merah, not HarbourFront — HarbourFront mainly serves Batam-bound ferries.

Visa & Entry Requirements

This is the part travellers worry about most, and the good news is: it's easy. Singapore passport holders can enter Bintan visa-free for stays of up to 30 days for tourism purposes. The only document rule worth double-checking is your passport validity,  Indonesian immigration is strict about requiring at least 6 months' validity from your date of travel, so this is worth a quick check before you book anything.

If you're travelling with friends or family holding other passports, requirements can vary, so it's worth confirming eligibility for a visa-on-arrival or e-VOA ahead of time rather than at the counter.

Best Time to Visit Bintan

Bintan is enjoyable year-round, but timing does shape the experience:

• March to October is generally the drier, sunnier stretch, ideal for beach days, water sports, and golf.

• June to August tends to be the busiest period, so book resorts and ferries early if you're travelling then.

• November to February brings the monsoon season, with more rain and choppier seas, still doable, especially for spa-and-resort-only trips, but pack flexibility into your itinerary.
